Mathew J. Evans

Mathew Evans passed away in 2016.  He was married to Dawn Lindblade-Evans and an extraordinary musician and arranger.  Mat was the close friend and first publishing client of Evan Chancellor.  Mat served as Horn Instructor at Southern Nazarene University and a Doctoral candidate at the University of Oklahoma. He previously held the position of Special Assistant Professor of Horn at Colorado State University and Artist in Residence at Colorado State University-Pueblo. Former Students have made All-State in Ohio, Florida, West Virginia, and Colorado.  His collegiate students have gone onto schools like Indiana University, Bowling Green State University, Florida State University, and the Cincinnati and Oberlin Conservatories. Mathew has commissioned works for horn and has arranged a number of works for horn ensemble. He has recently arranged several operatic works for woodwind quintet, commissioned by the Faculty Wind Quintet from the University of Central Oklahoma and performed at the 45th International Horn Symposium 2013.
Mr. Evans held the position of Principal Horn with the Pueblo Symphony Orchestra and the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs as well as, Guest Principal Horn with the Wuhan Philharmonic in Wuhan, China.  Mathew also held the position of Fourth Horn with the Westerville Symphony and performed regularly with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, the Toledo Symphony, the Lima Symphony, the Central Ohio Symphony, and the Albany Symphony.
